The Equality Act 2010 & DDA

The Equality Act 2010, states that you cannot refuse to serve or provide a lower standard of service because of a persons disability. A person must not be treated unfavorably because of something connected with their disability, unless the treatment can be objectively justified.

Service providers need to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to any barriers that put a disabled person at a substantial disadvantage compared to non-disabled people. This applies when disabled people want to access or use a service providers service.

Reasonable changes might include simple changes to layout, and improve signage & information, which can all help improve accessibility to disabled users.
